The Basic Dog Biscuits
- 2 1/2 c Whole wheat flour
- 1 t Brown sugar
- 1/2 c Powdered dry milk
- 6 TBLS Meat drippings
- 1/2 t Salt
- 1 Beaten egg
- 1/2 t Garlic powder
- 1/2 c Ice water
Preheat oven to 350. Lightly oil a cookie sheet. Combine flour,
dry milk, salt, garlic powder and sugar. Cut in meat
drippings until mixture resembles corn meal.
Mix in egg. Add enough water so that mixture forms a
ball. Using your fingers, pat out dough onto cookie sheet
to half inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter or knife and remove
scraps. Scraps can be formed again and baked.
Bake 25-30 minutes. Remove from tray and cool on rack.
Food Coloring can be added to give the biscuits some color
For the finicky Cat - CAT BISCUITS
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 tablespoons oil or fat
- 2 tablespoons wheat germ
- 1 tablespoons kelp or 1 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup soy flour
- 1/2 teaspoon bone meal
- 1 tablespoon molasses (unsulphured)
- 1/3 cup milk
Mix all ingredients together. Knead, roll out and cut into
narrow strips or ribbons. Bake 25-30 minutes in a moderate
oven (350 degrees F) until lightly toasted. Watch the narrow
strips as they tend to get done sooner than the others. If
the biscuits are not hard enough, leave them in the oven with
the heat turned off for an hour or as long as desired.
Bow Wow Rewards
- 3/4 C. hot water
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1/2 C. margarine
- 1/2 C. powdered milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 3 C. wheat flour
Dissolve bouillon cube in hot water. Stir in margarine.
Mix in powdered milk, salt, sugar, egg and flour to make a
stiff dough. Pat onto cookie sheet to 1/2 inch thick, then cut
into shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Let them
cool completely in the oven.
Dog Biscuits #2
- 2 1/2 C. wheat flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 C. nonfat dry milk
- 6 T. oil
- 1/2 C. cold water
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. sugar
Mix all ingredients and knead for 3 minutes. Roll 1/2-inch thick and
cut into desired shapes (a bone-shaped cookie cutter is nice). Bake
on a greased cookie sheet for 30 minutes at 350°F.
Dog Biscuits #3
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup powdered milk
- 1/3 cup bacon grease *can substitute Beef fat or Chicken fat
- 1 egg -- lightly beaten
- 1 cup cold water
In a bowl, combine flour and milk powder. Drizzle with
melted fat. Add egg and water; mix well. Gather dough into
a ball. On floured surface, pat out dough. Roll out to 1/2
inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Gather up scraps
of dough and repeat rolling and cutting. Bake on un-greased
baking sheets in 350 degree oven for 50 - 60 minutes or until
crispy. (you can store in the fridge). Yield: Makes about 36 - 2 1/2 inch biscuits.
