Exhibit runs: October 1st - November 2nd, 2002
We are pleased to announce this very special exhibit that explores
fragments of past dysfunctional relationships and how their effects
mold
our current views. Featuring some of the most expressive visual
artists
from around the country, Held Ransom addresses trauma as it continues
to
hold one hostage throughout life.
Selected work from raw, self-taught and outsider artists will be on
display
throughout October at three., an artists-run gallery just steps away
from
the Los Angeles Harbor waterfront in San Pedro, California. The new
gallery
will display paintings by local residents: Carol Es, Harold Plople
from The
Living Museum (his proceeds go to this facility's wonderful program),
Elizabeth Hoffman and sculptor Nancy Cone. The show also features
Seattle
Outsider Artist Anne Grgich and Matt Sesow from Washington, DC.
This important exhibit seeks to inspire and connect all those who
have
survived abuses and who continue to live with the hardships of the
psychological aftermath. As artists and survivors whose well-being
continues to be held ransom by such past events, we welcome all with
open
arms in hopes to recover and overcome some of life’s biggest hurdles
through the honesty and healing of art.
