Since even before the first Maryland Film Festival in 1999, we have enjoyed
a successful partnership with The Sundance Institute and later the Sundance
Channel. In 1998 The Producers Club of Maryland (the founding organinzation
of The Maryland Film Festival) established the Filmmakers Fellowship to be awarded
to one screenplay coming out of the Sundance Institute Screenwriting Lab. The
first fellowship went to DeMane Davis and Khari Streeter for Lift,
and other awardees have included Rodrigo Garcia for Things You Can Tell
Just by Looking at Her and Michael Burke for The Mudge Boy. In
recent years, The Sundance Channel has been a sponsor of The Maryland Film Festival.
With that in mind, we would like to let our audience know of an exciting film
series that the Sundance Channel is bringing to 10 cities - including Baltimore.
Robert Redford
and Sundance Channel are proud to announce the launch of the Sundance
Film Series. The film series has been developed as another extension of
the overall Sundance mission to support the work of independent artists and
offer opportunities for audiences to discover that work. It brings full circle
the cycle of support that Sundance can offer filmmakers. Visit http://www.sundancechannel.com/filmseries/
for information on the four films selected for this unique and exciting film
series.
The first
film in the Sundance Film Series - THE
OTHER SIDE OF THE BED - opens Friday August 29th exclusively at the Loews
White Marsh. FYI - advance tickets can now be purchased on FANDANGO (fandango.com
or 1-800-FANDANGO); a Sundance Film Series 4 Pack (all four films, 30% off the
box office ticket price) can be purchased on enjoytheshow.com.
